|The Third Legislative District is comprised of thirty-three townships and includes all of Salem County and parts of Gloucester and Cumberland Counties. It is one of the largest of New Jersey’s state legislative districts in geographic size, covering the county seats of Salem and Bridgeton with the surrounding rural areas, as well as fast growing municipalities, such as Woolwich and East Greenwich Townships. The district is in proximity to both Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE.The district has the highest acreage of preserved farmland in the State of New Jersey and produces much of the state’s agricultural commodities, such as corn, wheat, apples, peaches, and milk production, which give New Jersey its “Garden State” reputation. In addition, Salem County has recently become a hub for the state’s growing Agritourism industry. The area’s local farm markets, wineries, and community festivals contribute to a quality of life that supports South Jersey’s thriving agricultural industry and highlights its beautiful open space and farmland.
